Twofold works for telehealth visits and phone calls. The setup depends on whether you're using headphones and where your session is running.
Before you start, open Twofold and set the Modality dropdown to Virtual. You'll see two options appear: Not using Headphones and Using Headphones. Pick the one that matches your setup.
Telehealth without headphones
This is the simplest setup. Open Twofold in a separate browser tab from your telehealth platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Doxy.me, etc.). Make sure your telehealth audio is playing through your speakers, not headphones. Select Not using Headphones, then press Capture Conversation. Twofold will pick up both sides of the conversation through your device's microphone.

For the best results, keep the volume at a comfortable speaking level and sit within a few feet of your computer. If the audio is too quiet on one side, try turning up the speaker volume on your telehealth platform.
Telehealth with headphones (Chrome only)
If you use headphones during sessions, Twofold needs to capture audio differently since your microphone won't pick up what's coming through your headphones. This feature works in Chrome on Mac or Windows only.
Open your telehealth session in a different Chrome tab or a separate application (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.).
In Twofold, set Modality to Virtual and select Using Headphones.
Press Capture Conversation.
A sharing popup will appear. Choose the right option based on where your session is running:
If your telehealth session is in another Chrome tab: Select Chrome Tab at the top of the popup. Pick the tab where your session is running. Turn on Also share tab audio. Press Share.
β
If your telehealth session is in a separate application (like Zoom or Teams): Select Window at the top of the popup. Pick the application window. Turn on Also share system audio. Press Share.
β
Recording starts as soon as you press Share.
β
If you don't see the "Using Headphones" option, your browser may not be supported. Switch to Chrome and try again.
Phone Calls
There are two ways to capture phone calls with Twofold.
The first is to use a second device. Put your phone on speaker mode, then open Twofold on a computer, tablet, or another phone nearby. Set the Modality to Virtual, select Not using Headphones, and press Capture Conversation. Twofold picks up both sides through the second device's microphone. Place the devices close together for the best results.
The second option is to use your phone's built-in call recorder. Record the call directly on your phone, then go to Twofold on the web and use the Upload Recording option to upload the audio file. Twofold will generate the note from the recording. To upload, click the dropdown arrow next to the Capture Conversation button, select Upload Recording, fill in the patient name and template, and drag in your audio file.
Tips for better telehealth and phone recordings
Record in a quiet room. Background noise makes it harder for Twofold to separate voices.
Test your setup before a real session. Do a short test recording to make sure both sides are being captured.
If you're getting echo or feedback in your notes, try switching to the headphones method (Chrome) or using a second device.
Keep the Twofold tab or app open and visible during the session. Some devices reduce audio capture for background tabs.
